good friends

just spoke to a very lovely darling friend for an hour almost. the world seems much better. i forget how talking to a friend can make all the difference. even my kids seem so much cuter now!!!!

transitions and personal change

sorry btw for lack of capitals typing one handed with sick baby on lap - we are the house of virus at moment.

i mentioned i was spiritually flabby with 2 kids now, impatient and cranky -on another's blog - and a friend mentioned that i was always that way- but now noticing it under stress. which was 2 minds thinking alike as i had just been thinking of blogging that. though here i am thinking noone outside my own family noticed this about me ;)

actually every life change seems to uncover more layers of sin - marriage, one kid, 2 kids.....each time you realise you aint as nice as you thought. which is worth knowing, but hard all the same.

and with kids, you want them to grow up with you as a model, not an anti-model.

much more understanding of my own parents now

Not just proof texting but personality

I was watching greys anatomy and had a theological thought (!!!!)
There was an amish couple on it who were shunning a member who had left, despite the fact she was helping their daughter. No doubt they based this on some understanding of a biblical verse. It struck me that often we go looking for a verse for a situation rather than basing our decision on an intimate knowledge of God who he is what he does - how he relates to us. And I reckon thats why so many christians are often lacking in grace. our holiness then looks nothing like God - and so therefore isnt holiness but rather self righteousness. why is a God rich in mercy represented by the merciless rigid or smugly self satisfied ? Jesus hung out with the most despised in society but we can't even get along with slightly different flavour christians. because we insist on holding others to our interpretations of particular verses. there endeth the rant

rotarix vaccine

for anyone contemplating the new rotarix vaccine for their baby, owl has now had both doses and been sick both times - this time days of high fever and diarrhea - still worth it compared to a hospital stay I think - but considering the doctor didn't warn me - forewarned is forearmed.

the nursing pastors association?

Just gone back to work (which is why havent blogged recently) - as I start juggling 2 kids 2 and under with working as a pastor, there is the story about Julia Gillard being told by Bill Heffernan she can't be a leader because she has chosen not to have children, Yet if she did have she would be in trouble for neglecting them!!! We just can't win sometimes.

My baby is refusing to take the bottle (opposite of his older brother), so I am breastfeeding him at work on Sundays. A pastor breastfeeding at church... this is pioneering stuff hey??
